Amethyst
Amethyst is a beautiful purple variety of quartz known for its rich color and striking crystal formations. Its shades range from light lavender to deep violet, depending on the amount of iron and natural irradiation within the crystal. The name amethyst comes from the Greek word “amethystos,” meaning “not intoxicated,” reflecting an ancient belief that the stone could protect people from drunkenness.
Throughout history, amethyst has been highly valued in jewellery and spiritual traditions. In ancient times it was considered as precious as diamonds and rubies until large deposits were discovered in South America. Today, it remains popular in rings, necklaces, beads, and decorative carvings.
Many cultures associate amethyst with calmness, clarity, and protection. In crystal traditions, it is believed to help with relaxation, focus, and emotional balance, and it is often used during meditation or placed in homes for a peaceful atmosphere.
